Our Love Story

We met in August of 2019 playing sand volleyball at Utah State. It took us a month or two of being friends before we started dating and spending everyday together. Our first date was getting sushi where Anika told Nate that we had to take turns eating or talking, because it's hard to do both while eating sushi. The first picture we got together was on a double date to a pumpkin walk in October. Nate went home for Christmas Break and Anika missed him so much that when he got back she said, "Don't leave me that long ever again." :) We went to visit Nate's family in Chicago before getting engaged. Nate proposed on that trip in March and Anika was so happy to finally have a ring on it. Covid shut the world down which caused us to have a small wedding in May of 2020. We loved having it be a small wedding with our intermediate families, eating Cafe Rio for our luncheon, Oreo Raspberry Cheesecake for our cake, and our first dance being in Anika's grandparent's living room. Our marriage has been full of lots of pivoting and finding joy in the journey, even when it didn't go as planned, but we are so grateful that we found each other. It's a special thing to be married to your best friend.
